What is the monthly competition?
It is a once-a-month post where users submit a cross stitched piece related to a theme, and other users vote on the pieces. There are three winners.
How do I submit to the competition?
Reply with a comment to the main post. Do not reply to the bot.
When is the monthly competition?
The last seven days of the month. It posts at 1 minute after a random hour. (I use a random number generator and switch between AM and PM with a coin toss).
Where is the monthly competition?
It is a stickied post on the /r/CrossStitch subreddit.
Who can submit to the competition?
Any reddit user
Does the piece I submit have to be stitched by me?
Yes.
Does the piece I submit have to be cross stitch?
Any piece that would be allowed to be submitted to the subreddit may be entered into the competition. This includes blackwork but excludes embroidery.
Do I have to cite my source?
You do not.
How do I link to a piece I want to submit?
You may link to a reddit post, an instagram post, an imgur photo...
Does the piece I submit have to be a thread and fabric piece? What about this really awesome digital mock up I made?

I would like to suggest a theme. How do I do that?
How many times can I win?
There currently is no limit. You only get to keep one trophy attached to your username. Also you can only win once per month.
UPDATE (for monthly when there are only user flairs as prizes): Once you have won first place in a competition, you will share first, second, or third place with another user who has not won first place before. Once you have won second place, you will share second or third place with another user who has not won before. Once you have won third place, you will share third place with another user who has not won before.
Why do some months have prizes and some months don't?
Because I don't actively hunt for people to donate prizes. I'm looking for a mod to help me! Maybe that's you!
I would like to donate a prize! How do I do that?
When will you announce the winners?
Typically the first week of the subsequent month.
How is this fair? Users who submit early or have recognizable names or [some other complaint here]... are more likely to win!
First, the comments section is randomized. This means every time you load the page, the comments will be in a different order. There's no way to know who is most upvoted. Second, the competition bot was created so users can be reminded when the post is made. I can't do anything about recognizable usernames, sorry. You can downvote them if you feel strongly that they shouldn't win.
